Bio
Over the past 10 years, Ryan has built an impressive career as a professional musician. He started his musical journey on the local music scene in the North East, playing in churches and local venues, before moving to Leeds to study Pop Performance (Guitar) at Leeds Conservatoire. Ryan has ABRSM Grade 5 Music Theory and an extensive knowledge of the Rock School syllabus. He is fully DBS checked and has vast experience teaching guitar and bass to children and adults of all abilities, having taught for over 10 years and discovered a real passion for sharing his love of music as a 1-1 tutor.
Teaching Approach
Ryan focuses on giving students an in-depth understanding of pop/soul songwriting, invaluable ear training, and solid theoretical knowledge. As a seasoned performer, he wants students to be able to learn songs for themselves using their ears, chord charts, and lead sheets — becoming independent musicians rather than relying solely on tab.
He specialises in Pop, Rock and Soul, with vast experience across the Rock School syllabus, and is happy to teach whatever genre a student loves.
Performing
Ryan regularly performs guitar and bass at corporate and wedding events across the UK, both as an acoustic guitarist/singer and as a bassist/singer with the Northern House Band. He plays at renowned venues including Grantley Hall, Rudding Park Hotel, and Sora – Malmaison. In lessons, this real-world performance experience translates into practical skills — expanding your repertoire, understanding the Nashville Number System, soloing effectively, and playing while singing.

What is your cancellation policy? We operate a 48-hour cancellation policy. With at least 48 hours' notice, there's no charge and we'll help rearrange your lesson. Inside 48 hours, the full lesson fee applies.
